In collaboration with a talented Kazakh Mouth Artist
Mr K Kuyukov, I am sharing a unique story of one of the largest Nuclear Testing Sites in the world - a former Semipalatinskii Polygon in Kazakhstan.
It all started in Summer 2006 in Almaty, Kazakhstan when Simon and I hiked to the Big Almaty Lake in the mountains at 2,510m. I was 28 years old and never owned a pair of trainers, let alone hiking boots.

Simon and I enjoyed climbing together Snowdown, Scafell Pike, Ben Nevis, Toubkal, Mont Blanc, Kilimanjaro, Elbrus and to the advanced camp on Mera Peak in the Himalayas (summit attempt abandoned due to weather conditions).

On a Christmas Day in 2008 Simon presented me with a book called “The Sky’s The Limit” by Anna Magnusson. My dream was born after reading the captivating story of Vicky Jack, the first Scotswoman to complete the 7 Summits mountaineering challenge. The book “The Sky’s The Limit” truly inspired me then and keeps motivating me now.
